We returned from the best vacation ever. Spent our last morning sunning on a glorious white sandy beach, then landed that evening in a blinding white blizzard—made re-entry a little tough. We’re glad to be back in time to enjoy facilitating advisory boards.


We continue our daily walking contests. The competition is increasing. In an effort to win, Dave is now walking as he meets with ‘accountability buddies.’ It all helps to get in shape for tennis!

Thrive Every Day was created in the mind of Linda Rhea the day she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. Linda knew she would THRIVE and use her experience to help others in similar situations take their journey with the same empowering beliefs. “As a motivational speaker,” she says, “I encourage people to find the joy in changes in their lives, even the changes they did not choose. Navigating the many choices along the path of change can be much easier if people know the questions to ask and the way to develop their personal plan. This process creates the spark to transform change into the ability to Thrive Every Day.”

Q: What do you find most fulfilling about running your business?
LR: Watching people transform fear into a new way of looking at their lives and finding the joy!

Q: What motivated you to start this business?
LR: I knew when I was diagnosed with breast cancer that I was called to help others find the gift and the joy in the changes and challenges life brings.

I spent over 35 years as an investment professional and Certified Financial Planner® professional observing how people make decisions around their relationship with money and life experiences. Those observations gave me extraordinary insight into what motivates people to change. I now use that experience to create new ways for people take life’s ups and downs in stride and find the ability to Thrive Every Day!   

Q: What book has been most helpful to you in your business?
LR: The Power of Focus and Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life by Wayne Dyer.

Q: Who has influenced you most in your life?
LR: My mother, my Aunt Aggie Rose, Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer and Randy Ferguson.

Q: What has proved to be your most successful marketing strategy?
LR: Word of mouth and building relationships one person at a time. 

Q: What have been the greatest challenges you have had to overcome, or are currently facing, in your business?
LR: Overcoming the doubts that people really want my message.  

Q: How did you benefit from participating in a Make-it-Fly® board?
LR: My purpose is to radiate joy in the world. Make-it-Fly® has inspired me to stay focused on that mission and set and achieve the necessary goals. Make-it-Fly® provides a structure that keeps me in touch with like-minded professionals who are willing to give of themselves and their time to help me find new ways to spread my uplifting message.  

Q: What would you say to other business owners who are contemplating getting involved in a Make-it-Fly® board?
LR: If you know there is more you can do to reach your highest purpose and you are not doing it now, then join a board. Your board will inspire you to reach within to find your greatest strengths and get you in touch with the people, the ideas and the resources to Make-it-Fly®!

If You Fail to Make Ongoing Learning a Lifestyle

If you want to be successful in business and in life today, ongoing learning isn’t an option. You’ve got to be flexible, open to change and new ideas. In fact, if you’re not continually learning, you’re missing out on a lot.

As a business owner, the challenges and benefits of continual learning are substantial. You probably already have more than enough to do, but gaining additional knowledge gives you a tremendous advantage, and is well worth the effort and time it takes. Continuing to learn not only keeps you mentally alert, but helps you more quickly solve problems, make better decisions and connect seemingly unrelated concepts to produce new solutions. Learning itself is a rewarding experience. Plus, it makes you a more interesting person.

Aim to cultivate curiosity—foster an inquiring attitude. Learn to ask insightful questions and be on the lookout for new possibilities.

Ways to boost your learning:
The Internet offers countless topics to study and ways to learn. You can also:

Read or listen to books
Attend workshops or seminars
Enroll in courses on or off line
Brainstorm a topic or a challenge you face with others
Find a mentor or hire a coach
Teach others or write about what you’re learning—this deepens your own understanding
Learn more about your industry. Who is the expert in your field? How can you learn from him or her?

We can also learn from conversations with others and ourselves, and through failures—our own and others', and from experience (especially if we take time to reflect). Take a few minutes each evening to review your day—think about what happened and what you can learn from it.

Learning does take time, but you can use spare moments. For instance, when I’m driving, cleaning the house or cooking dinner, I listen to books on CD. Each year, I ‘read’ scores of books this way.

Decide what areas of knowledge and/or skill you want to focus on. Design your own learning program. Set clear, realistic goals about what you want to learn and the steps you’ll take to achieve them. Invest in yourself by actively pursuing knowledge. Don’t miss out—make ongoing learning a lifestyle.

In the spirit of giving, they offer each other solutions, ideas, resources and encouragement. Dave and Victoria facilitate each group and share powerful tools to assist business owners in reaching their goals and living more balanced lives.
